Users of the EigenLayer restaking protocol can look forward to a new airdrop.
EigenLayer has announced the second round of its stakeholder airdrop. The restaking protocol will distribute 86 million EIGEN tokens among users, including stakers, node operators, ecosystem partners, and community members.
The distributed tokens correspond to five percent of the total supply of 1.67 billion EIGEN tokens. The distribution is as follows: 70 million EIGEN tokens go to stakers and operators, up to ten million tokens are reserved for AVS, rollups, liquid staking protocols, rollup-as-a-service providers, and other participants in the EigenLayer ecosystem. The community, such as open source developers, will receive six million EIGEN.
Anyone who was active on the platform between March 15 and August 15 could qualify for the airdrop. Anyone who wants to participate in the airdrop must verify their wallet by September 11 verify.
Recently, EigenLayer has seen a significant drop in total value locked (TVL). According to the latest DeFiLlama figures, there is currently $11.4 billion locked in EigenLayer. For comparison: on June 6 of this year, it was over $20 billion.
EigenLayer is a restaking protocol. With restaking, users put their ETH to work a second time through EigenLayer, maximizing yields.
