Ether and XRP Funds See Outflows as Bitcoin ETFs Attract Inflows

U.S. spot ETFs are showing a clear rotation: Bitcoin is attracting capital, while ether and XRP funds are seeing outflows. Zcash funds are also staying unusually strong.

Ether and XRP Funds See Outflows as Bitcoin ETFs Attract Inflows

Key Takeaways

  • U.S. spot ether ETFs posted about $39 million in net outflows on Thursday, after withdrawals on Wednesday and Tuesday.
  • Bitcoin ETFs pulled in about $159 million, while Bitcoin traded above $77,000 and the broader crypto market stayed firm.
  • XRP funds lost about $5 million, while Zcash funds added nearly $47 million and have already attracted more than $230 million in a month.

U.S. spot ether ETFs saw outflows again on Thursday, while Bitcoin ETFs brought in money. That came on a day when Bitcoin moved above $77,000 (€67,100) and several major coins followed the broader risk-on mood in the market.

Ether Keeps Losing Money

According to SoSoValue, U.S. spot ether ETFs posted about $39 million (€34 million) in net outflows. That brought the streak to three straight days of withdrawals, after about $224 million (€195 million) in outflows on Wednesday and $141 million (€123 million) on Tuesday. Ether itself did rise 2% over the same period to about $2,470 (€2,150).

XRP funds were also under pressure. They lost about $5 million (€4.4 million), after a small inflow the day before. Over the past 30 days, ether funds are still up more than $1.5 billion (€1.3 billion), while Bitcoin ETFs pulled in nearly $2.5 billion (€2.2 billion) over the same period.

Bitcoin Keeps the Inflows Going

Bitcoin ETFs took in about $159 million (€138 million) on Thursday. That lined up with a Bitcoin price of more than $77,000 (€67,100), or about $77,216 (€67,300) according to CoinDesk data. At the same time, the broader crypto market stayed firm, with Solana around $105 (€91), BNB around $750 (€653), and Dogecoin about 4% higher.

Zcash stood out again. The coin rose about 10% to around $1,488 (€1,300), and the only U.S. Zcash funds added nearly $47 million (€40.9 million), their strongest day yet in a month that has already seen more than $230 million (€200 million) flow into those funds. That is notable because the Zcash ETF has already grown to more than $500 million (€436 million) in assets under management since its NYSE Arca debut on August 25.

What This Means for Investors

For European crypto followers, this shows how quickly money can shift between different investment products. It is not just the price of a token that matters, but also whether capital is coming in or flowing out through ETFs. The strong demand for Zcash funds alongside the outflows in ether and XRP shows that investors can react very differently to the same market sentiment from coin to coin.

The broader market also got support from stocks and bonds after oil fell and the 10-year yield moved lower again. Those kinds of macro moves can keep mattering for crypto, because the major coins have clearly been moving with stock market sentiment over the past few days.
