Ethereum (ETH) – First phase of the Merge successfully completed

The first phase of the Merge has just started successfully on the ETH PoS blockchain via the Bellatrix upgrade. Bellatrix connects the existing PoW blockchain with the new PoS blockchain. It ensures that the majority of Ethereum node operators will upgrade their consensus client from PoW to PoS.
This is because Ethereum nodes are responsible for validating blocks within the Ethereum network. To enable the PoW-to-PoS transition, these validators play a crucial role in the Merge.
What Bellatrix means for the Ethereum Merge
Bellatrix ensures that enough Ethereum node operators can start directly validating transactions on the ETH PoS blockchain after the merge. It clears the way for the second phase of the Merge: the "Paris Upgrade". This upgrade stops mining on the old Ethereum blockchain. It also marks the last moment when Ethereum's consensus mechanism will switch to PoS.
According to a View post on X, the Paris Upgrade is expected between September 13 and 15. The exact timing of the merge, however, depends on Ethereum's current hashrate and can change. The date for the final Merge remains an estimate.
If you want live predictions of the date, you can follow them on wenmerge.com or ethernodes.org/merge. Both sites calculate the exact timing of the Merge based on current conditions. Right now, the predictions point to the Merge around Tuesday, September 13 at 21:29.
