Ethereum's Shanghai update pushed back to April

Ethereum developers have pushed back the long-awaited update by about two weeks. A final test is planned for March 14.

The Shanghai Update is pushed back again. The Ethereum team is targeting a new date for early April. According to a developers' meeting on March 2, a final test run on the Goerli network is scheduled for March 14. After the dress rehearsal, the green light should be given for the mainnet.

Ethereum core developer and project coordinator Tim Beiko said: "For the mainnet, we usually want to give people at least two weeks after the announcement." Earlier the update was simulated on two other testnets. Most recently on the Sepolia network.

With staking, investors can deposit cryptocurrency to support the network. In return, they earn a yield. With the mainnet update, the staked ETH will be released again. Currently, around 17 million Ether are locked there.
