Former Square CTO and Cash App inventor Bob Lee has died after an unknown assailant stabbed him. The case is currently under investigation by the U.S. police.

On April 4, 2023, at about 2:35 a.m. local time, officers from the San Francisco Police Department's Southern Station were dispatched to a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a "43-year-old man" with apparent stab wounds, who later was identified as Bob Lee, according to the SFPD. according to the SFPD.

The officers rendered aid and called for an ambulance. Lee was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of rescuers and medical staff, Bob Lee succumbed to his wounds.

In addition to his major involvement with the payments service Cash App, Lee is known for developing the privacy coin "Mobile Coin". The incident is still under investigation by the SFPD Homicide Unit. The community mourns the loss.
