JPMorgan Develops New Crypto Rewards System With Coinbase

Starting in 2026, JPMorgan customers will be able to directly link their bank accounts to their Coinbase wallets. The collaboration between the American megabank and crypto exchange Coinbase marks a major step toward integrating traditional banking with the world of digital assets. The goal: simplify transactions and enable the conversion of loyalty points into cryptocurrency.

Specifically, JPMorgan credit card holders will soon be able to exchange their “Ultimate Rewards” points for USDC, the Circle-issued stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar. The rate: 100 points equal one dollar.

According to JPMorgan, this is “the first time a major credit card rewards program is being used to fund a crypto wallet.”

Coinbase calls the collaboration a “bridge between TradFi and crypto,” or traditional finance and the emerging world of blockchain technology. In addition to the wallet linking and point conversion, Coinbase is also working on integrating JPMorgan credit cards on its trading platform so customers can buy crypto directly with their card.

The timing is notable. JPMorgan is reportedly exploring lending with crypto as collateral, according to the Financial Times, a notable move for a bank whose CEO Jamie Dimon has long been critical of Bitcoin. But the deal with Coinbase shows that established financial institutions are increasingly venturing into digital assets.
