NFT whale loses $150,000 over a 'joke'

An NFT collector wanted to pull a prank by bidding 100 ETH for an ENS domain. That backfired, because this sloppy joke quickly turned into a lost amount of $150,000.

What did he do wrong? Before he could cancel his playful bid, it was accepted. Meaning his wallet is now lighter by 100 ETH (about $150,000).

In a tweet, the NFT collector Franklin explains that he had sold the ENS domain "stop-doing-fake-bids-its-honestly-lame-my-guy.eth" and, in the rush of excitement, forgot to cancel his own playful bid.

Franklin then tried to reverse the transactions and reached out to the seller of the Ethereum address. Despite the awkward flop, there's no need to worry about Franklin's finances: 57 Bored Ape NFTs are part of Franklin's collection.
