The identification solution could be used for blockchain-related know-your-customer checks, according to the developers. According to the Polygon team, Polygon ID aims to solve the problem of digital trust.
The application runs on zero-knowledge (ZK) technology. This tech is also used by privacy coins. Zero-knowledge (ZK) technology makes it possible to verify transactions that contain personal information (credit, age, gender, etc.) without storing them on a publicly visible blockchain.
The team provides the bare owner example of someone who wants to verify a guest's age. Instead of checking an ID, a ZK proof could be used. "With Polygon ID, they only need to provide proof, but not disclose the exact age."
