Sam Bankman-Fried will spend Christmas with his family. The 30-year-old was released on a $250 million bail to his parents' home.

Arrested on a $250 million bond, Sam Bankman-Fried was released to his parents' home in California. Bankman-Fried appeared in a U.S. court on Thursday, December 22, after being escorted to the U.S. by the FBI from the Bahamas to the U.S..

SBF under house arrest

Attorney Nicolas Roos described the $250 million bail as the "largest bail ever set in a criminal investigation". Roos told U.S. District Judge Gabriel Gorenstein that Bankman-Fried must remain under house arrest at his parents' home in Palo Alto and hand over his passport. This was reported by Reuters.

The next court date was set by US Magistrate Judge Gorenstein for January 3, 2023. The former FTX chief faces a slew of federal indictments, including money laundering and securities fraud.
