The NFT marketplace Magic Eden was attacked on Tuesday January 3. The crypto firm explains this in a tweet. Specifically: "Our third-party service we use to cache images has been exposed." Magic Eden, however, insists that customers' NFTs are safe. The platform was not hacked, it adds.
Replacing the display image
On X users complain that the preview images of their Non Fungible Tokens have been replaced with pornographic content and JPEGs from scenes from the American sitcom "The Big Bang Theory". Magic Eden advises to "update your browser to fix the issue." It is not yet clear who is behind the attack. Magic Eden declines to name the third party "for safety reasons."
Solana competes with Ethereum applications
It is true that the Solana-based NFT trading platform now competes with Ethereum apps. But the digital crypto art market is still not in great shape. The incident has not yet affected the recent rapid rise in Solana's stock price.
