Strategy buys big again, but would XRP have been a better call?
The Bitcoin-treasury company Strategy made a new billion-dollar move on July 21: 6,220 Bitcoin, worth an investment of about $740 million.

The Bitcoin-treasury company Strategy made a new billion-dollar move on July 21: 6,220 Bitcoin, worth an investment of about $740 million. The average purchase price is around $119,000 per BTC, according to an official press release.
With this purchase, Strategy's total holdings reach a staggering 607,770 BTC. Across all investments, the average purchase price sits at $71,756 per Bitcoin. Including ancillary costs and fees, total outlays rose to $43 billion. In contrast, there are impressive accounting profits of nearly $30 billion.
But what if the strategy had been different?
According to altcoin influencer Gordon on X (formerly Twitter), the portfolio would be worth almost $140 billion today if Strategy had invested in XRP instead of Bitcoin back then. A doubling of value, in other words. A key caveat: the figures have not been independently verified.
Investors, however, don't have reason to complain. Since the start of the year, the stock of MSTR has risen 41 percent, while Bitcoin itself has risen by only 26 percent. So those who trusted Saylors' vision in the stock market made a solid move.
Strategy may be the largest publicly traded BTC hodler, but it's far from alone. Companies like GameStop, Rumble, Twenty One, Nakamoto, and even Paris Saint-Germain are developing their own Bitcoin strategies. Even in Germany, a company is trying to follow in Strategy's footsteps.
