Strategy buys Bitcoin for $1.42 billion

Bitcoin price has risen 9% over the past week, and Michael Saylor's company Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) continues to steadily add Bitcoin. In a new View post on X on X, Saylor announced that his company has purchased another 15,355 Bitcoin for a total of $1.42 billion.

For this latest purchase, the average price was $92,737 per Bitcoin. That allowed Strategy to expand its Bitcoin stash with a discount of about 15% relative to the all-time high.

As usual, Saylor had already shared his well-known Bitcoin tracker on X before the announcement.

Thanks to this latest purchase, Strategy now owns a total of 553,555 Bitcoin, with an estimated value of $52 billion. That keeps the company the largest institutional Bitcoin holder in the world.

Saylor isn't just bullish about his former software company's future, but also about BlackRock's Bitcoin index fund growth. According to him, the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) will grow into "the world's largest ETF" within ten years.

Strategy's (MSTR) stock price is also rising. The stock is trading around $369, up 13% from a week ago. Since the start of 2024, Strategy has even outperformed Bitcoin itself, with an impressive total return of over 500%.

For Saylor, the MSTR share is a key tool for Bitcoin adoption. "More than 13,000 institutional investors and 814,000 retail accounts hold MSTR shares directly," he says. "Via ETFs, mutual funds, pension funds, and insurance portfolios, about 55 million people are indirectly involved."

For the current year 2025, Saylor forecasts a Bitcoin return of 13.7%. This figure reflects the ratio of Bitcoin held by Strategy to the number of MSTR shares outstanding. That means each shareholder now indirectly owns 13.7% more Bitcoin.

Michael Saylor remains steadfast in his mission: Bitcoin, in his view, is "the best money the human race has ever seen".
