Genesis subsidiary sues Roger Ver

Roger Ver is set to go to court. The subsidiary of the insolvent crypto-lending service provider Genesis, GGC International, has filed a lawsuit against Bitcoin Cash advocate Roger Ver over unpaid cryptocurrency options.

The total amount of the outstanding options is about $20.8 million. The expectation is that the former CEO of Bitcoin.com will also cover it. Ver responded to the accusation by saying: "I have enough money to pay Genesis the allegedly due amounts." The 43-year-old also claims that Genesis did not honor its agreement to stay solvent.

"I'm looking forward to Genesis's statement on how they assessed some questionable cost items. There are notable discrepancies between the valuation of customers' collateral and their own digital assets," Ver continues. The so-called "Bitcoin Jesus" has the support of the community, which has criticized the Genesis-linked company.

Still, there are arguments against Ver, such as some users note. The party that filed the lawsuit is not Genesis itself, but its subsidiary (GGC), which has not filed for bankruptcy and is still active.

Whether the court will compel Ver to pay for the expired options remains to be seen.
