Telegram launches blockchain-based auction platform

Telegram is about to launch its own auction platform. Users will be able to buy exclusive usernames here via an auction.

Telegram plans to launch a blockchain-based auction platform soon. The messaging service announced this recently. The marketplace runs on the company's own blockchain, The Open Network (TON), and is designed to let users buy exclusive usernames at auction.

There will be no NFTs on the platform, though the auctions will run on "NFT-like" smart contracts. Telegram founder Pavel Durov kicked things off in August.

Additionally, the messaging service has been experimenting with crypto for some time. Since April, you can send Bitcoin and TON through Telegram. Since October, users can also trade the two cryptocurrencies.

In addition to Telegram, more and more companies are starting to accept crypto payments.
