Tether: Stablecoin Giant Launches Its Own AI Platform

On May 5, Paolo Ardoino, CEO of stablecoin giant Tether, announced via X the launch of a new AI platform: Tether AI. The company, known for the world’s largest stablecoin (USDT), wants to play an active role in the AI tech revolution. According to Ardoino, the goal is to make “personal, infinite intelligence” accessible.

Tether AI should be fully open source and compatible with a range of hardware and devices. Flexibility and scalability are central. Thanks to its own Wallet Development Kit (WDK), users can make Bitcoin and USDT payments without relying on a central point, a crucial step toward decentralization and digital autonomy.

The WDK is a modular development kit that lets companies and developers integrate non-custodial wallets and user interfaces for Bitcoin and USDT into apps, websites, or physical devices. This should form the basis for what Tether calls “an unstoppable peer-to-peer network of billions of AI agents.”

According to Ardoino, Tether AI isn’t just an innovation project, but a strategic move to lay the groundwork for a new era where AI technology becomes widespread and self-sufficient. In that context, the chat app Keet could also become part of the ecosystem, though details are still scarce.

As if that wasn’t enough, Tether is also working on a US-specific variant of USDT—potentially a response to increasingly strict US regulation of stablecoins.

In short: Tether is eyeing a future where AI, cryptography, and payments merge seamlessly, without central intermediaries, but with maximum control for the user.
