Two Prime dumps Ethereum and goes Bitcoin-only

The algorithmic trading firm Two Prime has View post on X that it is pulling out completely from Ethereum (ETH). From now on, the company will focus exclusively on Bitcoin (BTC) for both custody and lending.

As the reason for the radical pivot, Two Prime cites Ethereum’s volatile behavior, weakening market dynamics, and a shrinking appeal to institutional investors.

The company’s critique isn’t soft. According to Two Prime, ETH’s risk-return profile has deteriorated so much that it’s no longer justifiable. In an official statement the company said: “ETH’s statistical trading behavior, value proposition, and community culture have passed a point where engagement makes sense.”

ETH, the firm says, “behaves like a memecoin” and “no longer as a predictable store of value.” CEO Alexander Blume sums it up succinctly: “We’re done with ETH.”

Ethereum’s outlook, once the dominant smart contract platform, has indeed taken a hit in recent months. But not everyone agrees with this reckoning. While some traders and hedge funds now label Ethereum as “uninvestable,” a growing number of large institutions are still betting on asset tokenization via the Ethereum network.

According to asset manager Fidelity, Ethereum is currently going through a phase of “growing pains.” Whether the price can rebound in the near term remains uncertain.
