Web 3.0 companies push for metaverse standard

The crypto sector is setting new standards in the metaverse. Several Web 3.0 companies have formed a new alliance to shape the metaverse standard of the future.

That’s why several companies have forged an alliance led by Animoca Brands - the Open Metaverse Alliance for Web3 (OMA3). The DAO aims to tackle fundamental challenges in the crypto space where users should always own and control their data.

"We believe in a metaverse with no walls, where individual platforms are connected and fully interoperable," OMA3 says in a blog post.

The group includes companies and projects like Dapper Labs, Decentraland, and The Sandbox. OMA3 is thus seen as a counterpart to the Metaverse Standards Forum. Last month, Silicon Valley giants like Meta and Microsoft formed their own organization with this title.

Aside from the race to build its own metaverse, Animoca Brands raised $75 million in mid-July from an investment round. Earlier this year the company made headlines with $360 million in capital raised.
