ATH (All-Time High)
ATH stands for all-time high. It’s the highest price a crypto asset has ever reached.
What is an all-time high?
An all-time high is a historical price record. If Bitcoin has never been worth more than it is today, then Bitcoin is at a new ATH.
Usually, ATH refers to the price of a single coin or token. The market cap, or total market value, can also reach an ATH. In practice, people usually mean the highest price.
An example of an all-time high
Say a crypto asset reached a certain price in the past. If its price later rises above that level, it has reached a new all-time high.
That new high sets a record, but it only tells you what the crypto asset was worth at that point.
Why is an all-time high important in crypto?
An ATH is a useful reference point for tracking previous price records. Platforms often show this historical peak for a crypto asset.
During a bull market, a period when prices often rise, new ATHs can happen. Positive news and an optimistic mood in the crypto market can contribute to this. That’s why a crypto asset reaching a new ATH often gets extra attention.
An ATH doesn’t mean the price will reach that peak again. Crypto prices can change for many reasons, so don’t rely only on an old price record.
