43 Million Americans Invest in Cryptocurrency

43 million Americans, about 13 percent of the population, have invested in cryptocurrencies. That comes from a JPMorgan evaluation of five million customers. The share quadrupled during the pandemic, according to JPMorgan. Before 2020 this was only three percent.

The survey also found that "use of cryptocurrencies is more pronounced among younger people". Specifically 20 percent among Millennials, 11 percent among Gen X, and 4 percent among Baby Boomers have it regularly.

Additionally, the share of male investors clearly dominates. "Across the whole sample, the odds of men transferring money to or from crypto accounts are about twice as high as for women." One of the study's most notable findings was that people with lower incomes fared worse. They tended to buy later and at higher prices on average than higher-income individuals.
