Bitwise Launches Tokenized Stock Portfolios With Coinbase

Key Takeaways

  • Bitwise is launching Automated Token Portfolios with tokenized U.S. stocks for selected investors outside the United States.
  • The portfolios are automatically rebalanced based on Bitwise models and run on Coinbase tokenized U.S. stocks.
  • The first portfolios focus on AI, robotics, and an expanded Magnificent Seven that includes SpaceX.

Bitwise has launched automated portfolios with tokenized stocks that let selected investors hold U.S. stocks directly in their crypto wallet and have them rebalanced. The products, Automated Token Portfolios or ATPs, run on Coinbase tokenized U.S. stocks and are automatically managed by Glider based on Bitwise models. The service is only available to eligible investors outside the United States.

Portfolios for AI and Robotics

The first set of portfolios focuses on AI, robotics, and an expanded version of the Magnificent Seven. In that last portfolio, Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Tesla are equally weighted, along with SpaceX. Bitwise says this shows that tokenized stocks can be more than just a digital version of stock trading on blockchain rails.

Instead of buying an ETF or another fund through a broker, investors hold the individual stocks in their crypto wallet while software follows the allocation set by a professional manager. Bitwise CEO Matt Hougan said that a professional model used to mean handing your assets over to a fund, while ATPs make it possible to keep the assets in your own wallet.

Coinbase Expands Tokenized Offering

The announcement follows a day after Coinbase launched tokenized versions of Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet on Base. Coinbase said at the time that more stocks are coming, but it still did not confirm which names would be next. In its models, Bitwise already mentions Microsoft, Amazon, Tesla, SpaceX, and Sandisk, which gives a hint about possible expansion of the offering.

The move also fits into a broader trend around tokenized stocks. According to recent market data, the market value of tokenized stock products has climbed this year to about $2.8 billion (€2.4 billion), nearly three times as much as at the start of 2026. At the same time, major crypto exchanges listed more tokenized stocks and other real-world asset products in the first half of this year, showing that interest in this kind of investment product is growing fast.

Why This Matters in Europe

For European crypto investors, this is especially relevant because it shows how far onchain asset management has already moved. Bitwise is best known for crypto ETFs, but it is now expanding into tokenized stocks and other forms of onchain management. That could suggest the line between traditional stock products and crypto wallets is fading further, although access here is still limited for now to selected investors outside the U.S.
