Circle launches USDC on World

Circle hits another milestone: the company behind the USDC stablecoin expands its reach to World. After a successful public listing, Circle is expanding further: its own stablecoin USDC is now available on World, Sam Altman's blockchain project and OpenAI founder. That comes from an official press release.
Previously, users could only use USDC on World via a bridge. Now the coin is issued on the blockchain directly by Circle itself. According to World, about two million people had previously used the bridged USDC. With this integration, USDC becomes available to about 27 million users.
To keep transactions smooth, Circle is also launching version 2 of the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP V2). According to World, this upgrade will “make USDC transfers across supported blockchains faster and cheaper. Developers, businesses and consumers can easily send money and fully benefit from DeFi compatibility.”
Sam Altman’s World project is best known for its controversial iris scans. It has historically clashed with privacy regulators.
