The crypto market is increasingly under scrutiny from law enforcement. According to a View post on X, research requests on a yearly basis have jumped 66 percent. Between October 2021 and 2022, a total of 12,320 law-enforcement related investigations were received, according to the exchange. About 80 percent of the investigations came from the US, the UK, Germany, and Spain.
With the "growing growth of cryptocurrencies," Coinbase says, "the number of inquiries from law enforcement and government agencies is also rising. We try to curb overly broad or vague requests to provide a more appropriate answer, and in some cases we even refuse to disclose information at all," Coinbase explains. "We also aim to provide anonymized or aggregated data instead of sharing individual customer information."
