FTX switches claims platform back online

A data breach last month crippled a platform that FTX victims could use to seek compensation. Now it is back online.

The security breach involving stolen FTX customer data has been closed. This was revealed last Friday View post on X by the official X account of the bankrupt crypto exchange.

The platform, through which injured parties can file claims for damages against FTX, is online again.

A data breach occurred in late August at the financial and risk consulting firm Kroll. The company handles insurance claims. Unknown persons obtained sensitive data from FTX users and then sent fraudulent emails to the affected individuals.

Aggrieved investors can still file their claims until Sept. 29. It is not known if the deadline will be postponed again because of the incident.

FTX is not Kroll's only customer. Lending services BlockFi and Genesis also process their recoveries through the firm.

The crypto exchange is among the biggest fraud scandals in history. The platform's founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, sits currently in custody. His trial begins in October.

Meanwhile, FTX recently received approval to launch its own cryptocurrencies. Liquidate to add the proceeds to the bankruptcy estate. This move caused criticism.
