Huobi hacked: $47.9 million stolen

Justin Sun's crypto exchange fell victim to a hack: the attacker managed to steal 5,000 Ethereum. However, customers' money is safe.

According to a View post on X of the blockchain analysis platform Cyvers, Huobi Global's crypto exchange HTX was hacked on Sept. 24.

The attacker managed to steal about $7.9 million worth of Ethereum from a hot wallet.

According to a report from Huobi, the identity of the hacker is known. The attacker would receive a five percent bonus if he returned the stolen money.

Justin Sun confirmed the attack and said customers' funds were safe.

"HTX fully covered the losses resulting from the attack and successfully resolved all related issues," the Tron founder said.

Only beginning August of this year, the rumor mill bubbled over HTX: the crypto exchange was in a serious crisis and on the verge of bankruptcy.
