Sam Bankman-Fried leaves the courthouse in handcuffs

Sam Bankman-Fried will not be released on bail. The new footage shows his arrest in the Bahamas.

The former CEO of the now-bankrupt crypto exchange FTX is currently in custody. Bankman-Fried was arrested in the Bahamas on December 12. This is shown by a View post on X from the U.S. prosecutors in the Southern District of New York. Because the defendant would pose an elevated flight risk, the defense's proposal to set bail at 250,000 US dollars was not granted.

SEC files a complaint

Sam Bankman-Fried was led out of the courthouse in handcuffs. The former FTX CEO has been indicted by the US Attorney's Office in custody. That includes securities fraud and money laundering. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has also filed a complaint.
