Since the launch on April 14, PEPE has surged by 82,000 percent. One investor became a multimillionaire in just 18 days.
Following the rapid price rise of the Meme coin Pepe (PEPE), some investors sold their coins and booked millions in profits. According to View post on X, an investor bought about 5.9 trillion PEPE for $251 on April 15. After the price soared, he sold 2 trillion tokens for $1.06 million on May 1. That made him a millionaire in just 18 days. If the investor had decided to sell the remaining 3.9 trillion PEPE, he’d become a multimillionaire with a profit of a staggering $5.67 million.
The token has risen thousands of percent since its launch on April 14. At press time, PEPE is trading at US$0.000001218.
experts emphasize the risks
Besides many upsides, the Meme coin also comes with downsides. According to Gopluslabs, the creator could block addresses and tweak transaction taxes at will.
Market analyst Stefan Lübeck notes: "Despite all the hype around this new Meme coin, investors should avoid FOMO. Since its launch on April 14, PEPE’s price has surged roughly 82,000 percent at its peak and has rocketed into the top 100 altcoins in a very short time (92nd). While further gains can’t be ruled out, the upside potential is matched by substantial risk. The risk-reward ratio isn’t commensurate with a sell-off."
Meanwhile, numerous crypto projects are trying to replicate PEPE’s alleged success. "Pepethereum," for example, relies on dynamic on-chain images that interact with the Ethereum network.
