Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg remains optimistic about the company's own Metaverse. After disappointing quarterly results in October, the project has come under increasing pressure. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg faced criticism of its own Metaverse project "Horizon Worlds" in an interview on Wednesday, November 30, with the New York Times.

Disappointing quarterly figures

On October 26, the tech giant reported disappointing quarterly results. As a result, Zuckerberg announced job cuts: "This means some teams will grow significantly, but most other teams will stagnate or shrink." In early November, 11,000 jobs were eliminated. The Metaverse also missed its target of 500,000 monthly users. In October, the number was only around 200,000. The division responsible for building the Metaverse accounts for about 20 percent of the company's investment portfolio. Still, Zuckerberg stays optimistic: "The criticism doesn't bother me all that much".
