Market Update: Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ripple in the red, is the summer dip starting?

The crypto market remains stuck in a slow crawl. On a daily basis, the total market cap falls by nearly three percent. Still, losses among the top-10 cryptos remain relatively mild: Bitcoin slips 0.3 percent, Ethereum edges down 0.7 percent.

Among altcoins like XRP, Solana, and Dogecoin, losses are a bit tougher, up to about two percent. Only Dogecoin is down about three percent over the past week. The other top coins have managed a small gain versus last week.

Further down the rankings, the picture is more clearly split. Pudgy Penguins tops the day with a 10 percent gain, while Algorand is hit hard with a 6 percent loss.

Meanwhile, investor sentiment is cooling off a bit. The Fear & Greed Index slips by one point to 63, still in the ‘greed’ zone, but less pronounced. Bitcoin dominance remains solid at 65 percent, indicating capital continues to concentrate around the top coin. There’s no sign yet of a summer altseason, and CoinMarketCap’s Altcoin Season Index confirms this.

The lukewarm market dynamics seem partly explained by the season: the summer months are historically weak for both Bitcoin and Ethereum. According to crypto analyst Daan on X:

Yet there is also potential in this quiet. “It’s often in these calm moments that new, interesting narratives emerge,” according to Daan.
