Polkadot has shared details about its new scaling upgrade. "Asynchronous Backing" is designed to boost processing capacity to one million transactions per second.
Polkadot has updated its roadmap. A development focus will be on "asynchronous backing" - according to the blog entry, "the first major optimization of Polkadot's parachain consensus protocol". The upgrade should cut parachain blocking time from twelve seconds to six. Additionally, block capacity will increase by a factor of 5-10.
Overall, an increase to "up to 100,000 to 1,000,000" transactions per second is expected. By the end of the year, asynchronous backing will first roll out on Kusama. After a few tests, it will also be introduced on Polkadot.
