To improve financial inclusion, the Montenegrin government is working with Ripple. Does XRP figure into the planned stablecoin?

During a View post on X at Crypto Summit 2023, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and Montenegro's Prime Minister Dritan Abazović discussed the Southeast European nation's financial future.

Specifically they said: "We talked back then about developing a payments infrastructure that could enable greater financial accessibility and inclusion. Montenegro is open to new values and investments." Dr. Abazović went on to reveal that Montenegro is working on a project for a digital stablecoin.

"In collaboration with Ripple and the central bank, we started a pilot to build Montenegro's first digital currency or stablecoin," the premier said. Whether the Ripple-issued cryptocurrency, XRP, will be part of the stablecoin pilot remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Ripple faces a fork in the road: a decision in its long-running legal battle with the SEC is expected by year-end. The ruling in this precedent-setting case is likely to impact future crypto regulation.
