Sam Bankman-Fried hires Ghislaine Maxwell's attorney

The FTX founder has found a new attorney. He is now represented by a former Ghislaine Maxwell attorney. According to Reuters reports, Sam Bankman-Fried has hired a new lawyer to bolster his defense in the FTX case.

The fallen founder of the crypto exchange is represented by Mark S. Cohen, a partner at the New York law firm Cohen & Gresser. The American attorney became well known for his role defending Ghislaine Maxwell.

Maxwell was sentenced in the U.S. last December to 20 years in prison for various sex offenses connected to Jeffrey Epstein. Bankman-Fried reportedly clashed with his previous attorney over conflicts of interest.

That attorney criticized his "ruthless and disruptive" tweets because they affected his impending defense. Meanwhile, Bankman-Fried and his new attorney Cohen are gearing up for a possible civil suit from harmed FTX customers.

Criminal proceedings by U.S. authorities are still underway. The SEC, the CFTC, and the Department of Justice are currently examining Bankman-Fried's role in the collapse of FTX.
