Strategy Buys 1,666 Bitcoin, Increases Weekly Purchase

That keeps the Nasdaq-listed software group by far the biggest publicly traded Bitcoin holder, while Michael Saylor once again hinted at the buy ahead of time.

Strategy Buys 1,666 Bitcoin, Increases Weekly Purchase

Key Takeaways

  • Strategy bought 1,666 Bitcoin and brings its total stash to 847,666 BTC.
  • The new purchase is about 75% larger than the 950 BTC the company reported a week earlier.
  • Michael Saylor already hinted at the buy on Sunday with a post about “Even more orange”.

Strategy, the former MicroStrategy, bought 1,666 Bitcoin in its latest weekly purchase. That brings its total stash to 847,666 BTC, more than any other publicly traded company. The purchase is about 75% larger than the 950 BTC the company reported a week earlier.

Weekly Purchases Keep Rising

Strategy is a Nasdaq-listed software company that has grown into a Bitcoin holder over the past few years. The company usually reports its purchases to U.S. regulators on Mondays. Last week, it bought another 950 BTC for about $76 million (€66.6 million), bringing its stash to 846,000 BTC at the time.

The new purchase follows a period when the buying pace was uneven. At the end of August, Strategy announced a new purchase of 4,603 BTC after a 10-week pause. In the weeks after that, the pattern stayed mixed, including one week with no new purchase.

Saylor Had Already Hinted at It

Executive chairman Michael Saylor gave a clear hint on Sunday. He posted a chart of Strategy's Bitcoin purchases, where each orange dot marks a buy, with the caption “Even more orange”. A day earlier, he had also hinted at the 950 BTC purchase with “A little more orange”.

Strategy bought the 1,666 BTC at a Bitcoin price of around $83,251 (€73,000). That puts the purchase value at about $138.7 million (€122 million). Strategy's average purchase price was around $75,400 (€66,100) per coin based on the latest figures, so the current price is still about 10% above that.

Why This Matters

For European crypto followers, Strategy remains one of the most important signals in the market for large Bitcoin buyers. The company is the world's biggest publicly traded holder of Bitcoin, so its monthly or weekly updates are closely watched. Even outside the United States, it shows how a publicly traded company keeps using Bitcoin as a core part of its balance sheet.

The purchase also comes amid a broader debate about capital flowing into Bitcoin and other digital assets. In the U.S., stock markets posted strong gains in the second quarter of 2026, while some miners have shifted more toward AI infrastructure because of higher energy costs. That makes the role of big buyers like Strategy even more visible in the crypto market.

Strategy remains one of the clearest examples of a publicly traded Bitcoin treasury. Other companies are building similar positions too, such as Strive, which recently expanded its own stash further.
