Uniswap, the largest decentralized exchange — a success or a downsizing model?
In four years, Uniswap has grown into the largest decentralized exchange (DEX).

In four years, Uniswap has grown into the largest decentralized exchange (DEX). But the dream of the financial revolution shows cracks and could end.
Uniswap is only four years old and already the absolute top in decentralized finance (DeFi). It brings under its banner the largest decentralized crypto exchange (DEX) in the world with the second-largest decentralized organization (DAO) that has ever existed. With a trademark pink unicorn, they are crushing all records. Daily trading volume now sits at 1.2 billion US dollars on the decentralized exchange, almost 50 percent of the entire DEX market. With this size it even nips at the heels of Coinbase, the largest centralized American crypto exchange. UNI holders could soon share in the fee distribution after a directional vote in August. It would be a huge step for the platform and the entire DeFi space.
Uniswap: Is DEX Wall Street conquering?
What once consisted of two founders has now grown into a top team of nearly a hundred people. Many top names from the financial sector are drawn to the DEX. The most recent example: Mary-Catherine Lader, former BlackRock manager. It is clear: the purple unicorn is charging toward the "Old World," aiming to conquer it. But regulators could end the dream of the financial revolution. The U.S. financial regulator SEC has been pursuing crypto companies for years. And it has had its eye on Uniswap since 2021.
