Trump denies: No memecoin for Truth Social

Rumors about a supposed memecoin launch were denied by Trump's social media platform Truth Social. The trigger was a tweet from a crypto influencer.

A cryptocurrency linked to Truth Social would have fit nicely into former President Donald Trump's existing memecoin portfolio. So the claim that such a coin was on the way wasn’t surprising—except it turned out to be false.

"Despite the rumors, Truth Social is not launching a memecoin," reads a brief statement from the official Truth Social account. The social media platform is owned by the Trump Media & Technology Group, in which Trump holds a majority stake.

Also Donald Trump Jr. denied the rumors on X: "There’s nothing true about the reports that Truth Social plans to issue a memecoin."

The rumors were earlier spread by podcaster and influencer Ran Neuner, also via a tweet on X. "Truth Social Memecoin launches within 72 hours. It appears to be the same team behind the $TRUMP-coin," Neuner wrote. The tweet has since been viewed 1.4 million times.
