UFC fighter gets full pay in cryptocurrency
More and more athletes are receiving part of their pay in cryptocurrencies.

More and more athletes are receiving a portion of their salary in cryptocurrencies. In Argentina, a UFC athlete is going all-in now. UFC fighter Guido Cannetti, better known as "El Ninja", is the first Argentine athlete to be paid entirely in crypto. This comes from a press release by the crypto payroll provider Bitwage. Cannetti now receives his full salary in USD Coin (USDC) via Bitwage.
Cannetti said he feels more secure about his financial future with this form of salary payment. Argentina is currently facing a massive devaluation of the currency due to high inflation (nearly 80%). Cannetti said he’s worried about ‘extreme volatility’ and wants to shield himself from it with protection.
People in Argentina are fairly positive about the crypto sector. According to a study by Americas Market Intelligence, 51 percent of people in the country have already bought digital currencies. Even football legend and Argentina’s Lionel Messi was paid in crypto some time ago.
