Bigger, faster, farther: the Helium network is also looking to scale up. To reach this, the developers have devised a surprising measure.

As part of HIP 70 (Helium Improvement Proposal 70), the network's developers propose moving from their own blockchain to Solana (SOL). This would set in motion a fundamental change.

Helium aims to build a broad Internet of Things (IoT) network. With the proposal, the developers aim to improve Helium's network speed, reliability, and scalability.

"After extensive deliberation, discussion, and debate, Helium's core developers, with support from the Helium Foundation and other key stakeholders, proposed migrating the Helium network to the Solana blockchain," it says in a blog post.

But Solana recently made headlines for some negative coverage. In addition to several network outages, the Layer 1 blockchain was the victim of a hack and Solana is facing legal action.
