FTX Revelations: Who's Behind Sam Bankman-Fried's Bail Bond Payments?
The judge overseeing the criminal case against Sam Bankman-Fried has ordered that the names of the bail sponsors be published.

The judge overseeing the Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) case has ordered the publication of the names of the bail sponsors for the former CEO of the crypto exchange FTX. Court documents show that Andreas Paepcke deposited $200,000 and Larry Kramer $500,000.
Both sponsors worked at the prestigious Stanford University, where Bankman-Fried's parents also work. Kramer was dean of Stanford Law School. Paepcke is a senior researcher and director of data analytics supporting online education initiatives at Stanford University, and is considered a family friend.
Parents' house put up as collateral by SBF
Paepcke and Kramer are far from the only ones backing the historically high bail of $250 million. The suspect's parents' house in Palo Alto is also part of the collateral. Exactly the house where Sam Bankman-Fried is required to reside under his bail terms: He may only leave the estate in Palo Alto for court appearances or similar proceedings related to the case.
Since the former head of the FTX crypto exchange pleaded not guilty last January, his main trial awaits there. In December, eight counts were filed against the 30-year-old, including wire fraud and violations of campaign finance laws.
