Mt. Gox, the Insolvent Bitcoin Exchange, Delays Repayments

Creditors of Mt.Gox get an extra month to file their claims against the company. There are also delays in repayments.

The deadline to file claims against the insolvent crypto-exchange Mt.Gox has been extended by another month. According to an announcement, it shifts from March 10 to April 6.

Repayments to creditors have also been postponed by a month to October 31. The original plan was September 30.

Mt.Gox was once the world's largest Bitcoin exchange. After the platform was hacked in 2014, resulting in thousands of Bitcoins lost, the company filed for bankruptcy. Since then, creditors have waited for compensation.

The largest creditor is the "Mt.Gox Investment Fund." According to reports, it has agreed to a smaller but earlier payout. Bloomberg reports there are 141,686 BTC under the company. The report says the Mt.Gox Investment Fund does not plan to sell the Bitcoin.
