24h High / Low
24h High and 24h Low are the highest and lowest prices at which a cryptocurrency traded over the past 24 hours. Together, they show the price range in which the cryptocurrency traded during that period.
What are 24h High and Low?
A trading platform calculates these figures based on completed trades. The 24h High is the highest price at which a cryptocurrency traded, and the 24h Low is the lowest price during the same period.
The period is usually a rolling 24 hours, so it doesn’t correspond to a fixed calendar day. As time passes, older trades fall out of the calculation and new trades are added.
The figures apply to one trading pair on one platform, such as BTC/EUR. That’s why the 24h High and Low can vary from one crypto exchange to another.
An example of 24h High and Low
Bitcoin traded between €59,000 and €62,000 on a particular platform over the past 24 hours. The 24h Low is €59,000, and the 24h High is €62,000.
At that point, the current price might be €61,000, which falls between the highest and lowest prices over the past 24 hours.
Why are 24h High and Low important in crypto?
These figures often appear in price summaries and trading apps. They help users see how the current price compares with the highest and lowest prices over the past 24 hours.
A 24h High or Low doesn’t predict how the price will move next. These figures also aren’t fixed floors or ceilings. A brief price spike or a single trade can determine the high or low.
Only compare these figures when they come from the same platform and trading pair. The exact period used to calculate them can vary by provider.
